A valid full driving licence is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Loughton location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely processed by trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to inspect the vehicle thoroughly and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. When returning the vehicle, it must be in the same condition as it was when collected, considering normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us if you anticipate being late. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms

Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, and we advise reviewing these options thoroughly. You will be held accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, refer to your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges. It's important to review these terms to avoid unexpected fees.
7. Restricted Uses
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or any hazardous maneuvers is not allowed. Transporting dangerous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is unacceptable. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving outside designated geographical limits requires prior authorization.
Breaching these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Loughton is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be addressed exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
